5 Ways to Style Your Bookcase for Free

Bookshelves can be an intimidating thing to pretti-fy.  It’s often a lot of space to fill.  Do you want to keep them functional or have them be decorative?  I’ve pulled together some tips to keep it a simple and free project.  To check them out, just keep on reading!

1. Rearrange your books by color

This is the simplest way to make a huge impact if you have a large collection of books.

2. Turn your books around

This is obviously not super practical if you regularly reach for your books to read, but they can create such a pretty display by only seeing the pages.

3. Group in odd numbers

Candles, photos, potted plants, vases, baskets… you get the idea. They all make a greater visual impact in groups. Keeping it to an odd number is more visually appealing as opposed to even numbers. Take a look around at what you already have around the house and see what you can group together.

(P.S.- this is a great idea for the TOP of your bookcases too if there is space)

4. Utilize baskets

Using baskets on your bookshelves helps to hide the not so pretty items while still utilizing the storage aspect of your shelves is a great idea. They can be big or small. Hide books, remotes, toys; whatever you need!

5. Take advantage of free printables

If you have some extra frames laying around, try adding in a free printable (or two, or three 😉). There are a ton of options out there! You can check out my Pinterest board full of them.

So there you have it!  Five easy ways to update your bookshelves for free!  I would love to know what you think in the comments!
