Farm Birthday Party

I have been gearing up for Drew’s third birthday party this week, and it’s been making me think back to his party last year. We did a farm theme, and it was really fun to put together. I never shared it, and thought what better time than now?

I love decorating for a party, especially when there is a theme! I used a lot of my faux sunflowers in various places, like above at the coffee station and outside in a can.

The John Deere tractor that we had greeting guests outside was Steve’s. His dad fixed it up beautifully for Drew, and they had a little photo shoot with it a few months earlier in the fall.

Just look at him! I love these photos of him!

We tied balloons to the tractor- a mix of red, yellow, and cow print.

I hung a little chalkboard sign welcoming guests to “Drew’s farm” and had flowers and wheat stems on an old ladder on the other side of the door.

The food was the really fun thing for me for this party. I found a ton on inspiration on Pinterest!

I made labels for all of the food using this font; I printed the labels and mounted them denim strips and to these little fence pieces that I found at Hobby Lobby.

Here was our menu:

•Chicken Coop– Chick Fil A nugget tray

•Fresh Eggs– deviled eggs

•Strawberry Patch- strawberry pretzel salad

•Tator Crop- Potato Salad

•Farm Fresh Veggies- veggie tray

•Tractor Wheels- Macaroni & Cheese using wheel noodles

•Duck Pond- blue Hawaiian Punch (with a little rubber duck floating!)

•Hay Bales-rice Kristine’s with pull & peel twizzler ropes

•Cow Pies- no bake cookies… I found these pre-made at Walmart, so I went that route

I added black dots to the bottoms of the pink plastic cups to make them look like pig snouts and had cow paper straws.

For the plastic wear, I wrapped yellow forks, knives, and spoons in green napkins to make them look like corn cobs. My mom had this cute basket that she let me use to display them in.

At the gift table, I painted a barn on a trifold board. I used a green table cloth and some faux grass squares that I use for my Etsy shop photos. Can you spy the photo I shared earlier of Drew and his tractor! Above the barn, I hung photos from Drew’s second year.

I made a banner for his high chair using a variety of fabric strips- I picked then all up at Walmart. The metal “2” was another Hobby Lobby find.

I made balloon animals to hang from the kitchen windows and as a centerpiece on one of the tables. We had a cow, pig, duck, dog, and chicken.

I found the cow tableclothson Amazon. I also had a bandana table runnergoing down the center of the other table, layered over the cow print table cloths.

I was pretty proud of the cake and cupcakes too. I am in no way shape or form a cake decorator. Or baker for that matter- those would be box cake mix cakes!

For the cake, I made a barn out of a basic sheet cake. I cut the top to resemble a barn roof and used Hershey bars as the shingles. The rest is just basic buttercream, some that I dyed for my needs. I decoration the cupcakes to look like barnyard animals using candy corn (cow),candy melts (pic snout), candy eyes, and jelly beans. I covered a cake board with grass scrapbooking paper.

This year, we celebrating with a Mickey Mouse theme! I will hopefully share that with you before he turns four!
