Summer Home Tour 2020

Welcome to my summer home tour!

This year, I primarily decorated for the season in the family room and kitchen. I have some favorite decor that I tend to have on repeat summer after summer, but honestly, if it’s not broken, why fix it??

One of those things is this fun wooden flag. I pull it out every summer and get complimented and questioned about where I found it every time. It was an incredible Facebook swap and sell find from YEARS ago. I think I purchased it with the intension of using it out on my porch, but it annually finds its home for the summer above my mantle.

Last year I pulled out these vintage croquet mallets, and I wanted to bring them out again this year. I think they’re fun and help pull in some summer flair while not being strictly patriotic. I used one of my larger crocks to hold them. The chip tin is “new” to the decor this year- I have has this (and a few other tins) in my basement for years now. I pulled them from my grandmothers attic and knew there had to be something I could do with them. I’ve always thought that this red, white, and blue one could be fun for the summer but wasn’t sure how to use it. I had gotten a couple of big bunches of tulips from Michaels this past spring and had them in my crock. I swapped them over to the tin and calmed it good! I felt extra on point when I opened up my July copy and saw a similar set up!

Another piece I love bringing out this time of year is my vintage Coca-Cola crate. This was a gift from my in laws a couple Christmases ago, and I think it’s just about the coolest thing. I mean, it has all of the original bottles- soda included! The crate is a fun pop of red and the patina on the crate is just perfect.

I filled my shutter vases with bunches of faux lavender.

Moving into the kitchen…

I opted for some stems in my blue/green demijohn. I tucked in an American flag for a little patriotic flair.

I had a little fun on top of the cabinet by pulling together a festive vignette.

I’m new to decorating my mug rack, but I’m pretty pleased with my first try! I mixed some white mugs with some mason jar drinking glasses, some of which had some red and white gingham lids. I tucked in a couple of red, white, and blue signs and hung a handful of mini green wreaths throughout.

The tiered tray followed a coordinated theme, decked out with white mugs again and touches of red, white, and blue.

I found the cute little pinwheels tucked in that white enamel vase in the dollar spot in Target. They were the perfect touch of whimsy in this little corner of the kitchen.

And that completes the summer home tour of 2020! Thanks so much for stopping by and checking it out. Be sure to subscribe and check back again later this week for the official kitchen makeover update!
